It Getting Real Enough Yet!?

Derision Cult, led by Dave McAnally, is a powerhouse in Chicago's industrial metal scene. Signed to Glitch Mode Recordings, the band includes Sean Payne, Brad Huston, and Jesse Hunt, with ties to acts like Cyanotic and Conformco. They have collaborated with legends from The Cure, Ministry, Godflesh, Stabbing Westward, Actors, and Assemblage 23.

The Glitchmode journey began with the 2022 EP, Mercenary Notes Pt 1, which featured contributions from Chris Connelly and Reeves Gabrels, and mixes by Justin Broadrick and Cyanotic. The track "Slaves Rebuild" was listed among Metal Hammer's top 50 new metal tracks of 2023, and "The Year Hope Failed" was featured on Cyberpunk 2077's Spotify playlist. Following this success, they released Mercenary Mixes, a double disc of remixes by industrial rock icons.

Derision Cult is set to release Mercenary Notes Pt 2 this fall, produced by Sean Payne and featuring contributions by Reeves Gabrels (The Cure, David Bowie), Brazilian organist Ronaldo Rodrigues, and Chicago Cowpunk legend Pete Berwick. The first single, "Warning Signs," blends industrial metal with rockabilly and outlaw country themes. The animated video, created by Empire Animation, features appearances by Glitch Mode members and contributors like Jim Marcus, Justin Broadrick, and Reeves Gabrels.

"Warning Signs" is an industrial metal track with heavy, almost spoken word vocals, thrash metal guitars, and cyber beats, reflecting on our cultural climate. Inspired by a true story from a Navy SEAL operation, the chorus line "Is it getting real enough yet?"

Derision Cult is bringing Mercenary Notes Pt 2 to the stage in the fall of 2024 across the US, followed by more live activity in 2025!
